Fine handmade ceramics in rural Kentucky
Silver Run Ceramics are produced by artists Michelle Lyn Strader and Frederick Bartolovic. Together they create a collaborative line of functional ceramic ware made on their small farm in the Appalachian foothills of Eastern Kentucky. Both Michelle and Frederick have their individual artistic practices, yet together they put forth their unique strengths into collaborative works which speak to their experiences on the farm. This manifests itself through contemporary forms that are highly functional and versatile, embellished with primitive and sometimes mythical imagery depicting animals and nature. Composing allegorical motifs with decorative symbolism, each piece is thoughtfully conceived and a one of a kind piece of art. Silver Run Ceramics are made entirely by hand and can be enjoyed for everyday use or special occasions. Thoughtful collectors need not look further, our work serves as both functional piece and beautiful object.
In recognition of artistic excellence, Silver Run Ceramics is the recipient of an Emerging Artist Award from the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, which is supported by state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
